  28. Well, I worked at Andersen Consulting and I was feeling miserable every day ;(
  29. Fortunately, I had the chance to go to the USA in an assignment and I made
  30. contact with Lightwave, the Internet, this mailing-list, VTU, LWPro and lots
  31. of other stuff graphics-related. I was thinking about quitting the job for
  32. some time. So, as soon I had enough money to survive a whole year without any
  33. kind of income, I quit and I started my demo-reel.

  35. This was last September. Now, I had finished a demoreel (that is not
  36. outstanding but sure is above average for the quality I see in this
  37. country!!!) and I am starting sending faxes and calling Video-Prodution houses
  38. to make some appointments. (gosh, most of them don't know what video-animation
  39. is or want's to know about it!!!)

  41. I know it's going to be very difficult since all the 'big-enough' production
  42. houses are located at Lisbon, there are not much of them (I found about 60-80)
  43. and it's a very restricted market. That means that only 3 or 4 of them can do
  44. what I call 'professional-level' animation and the others do stuff that is in
  45. the quality range of the LW-manuals tutorials!!! Or 2-D animations.

  47. So, I guess my only chance is to get a job in one of those 3 or 4 companies or
  48. do small freelance stuff, animations in the $200-$500 budget range!

  50. It's hard, it's not much... BUT I FEEL ALIVE!!! No more waking up with a urge
  51. feeling to throw myself over the window! I almost feel happy!!! Well, I need a
  52. woman, but that's another story ;)

  54. If I can't live of my animation work in 8 months... I will starve... And try
  55. to teach something about multimedia in some kind of school, but at least, *I
  56. HAVE TRIED*!!!
